Nominate an Urban Hero

Deadline: June 15, 2010

The Center for Urban Biblical Ministry is now accepting applications for nominees to be awarded an Urban Heroes designation. We are looking for “urban heroes,” those worthy of honor and recognition for serving their church, family and community with distinction, integrity and consistency.  These urban heroes need not have a title or advanced degrees. They need not have led some organization, large or small.  Urban Heroes are simply people who made other’s lives better through self-sacrifice and service.

Once we identify our Heroes, Dr. John Stanko will interview them for inclusion in our upcoming book by the same name – Urban Heroes:  Stories of Pittsburgh Heroes You Should Know.  This interview can either be done in person or by phone.  We will also want to include our Heroes’ pictures in the publication, which should be ready for distribution this coming October, 2010.

Do you know any urban heroes? If you do, then fill out this application and let us know why you believe this person deserves the urban hero designation. Keep in mind that this person, if worthy of the honor, must agree to be interviewed for inclusion in the upcoming book, Urban Heroes published by Urban Press.

The person you nominate can be family member, friend or associate.  Deadline for all nominations is June 15, 2010.

Please return to: Urban Heroes, CUBM, 7418 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15208
or fax it to 412-731-4834.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact my office.  Thank you for helping to make this new program a success!
